What’s happening to Missouri State Football? A Dream Start Has Turned into A Tail Spin

What started out as dream start to the 2022 has turned into tail spin as the Bears suffer their 3rd straight loss on the road against North Dakota 49-31. The Bears were up 21-10 in the first half but the North Dakota Fighting Hawks went on a 38-3 run to seal the deal. While still ranked 19th in the NCAA Football Championship Division the Bears have dug themselves in a deep hole after starting 2-0. While still alive in the playoff hunt the Bears have a tough game down the road against 17th ranked Southern Illinois at plaster stadium then a bye follows by a road game at Northern Iowa a homecoming game against Western Illinois at South Dakota their final home game against Youngtown St and the season finally at Indiana State.

The Bears need at least 4 wins to make it to the post season playoffs, but injuries are plaguing the team and after giving up 500 yards in a loss against North Dakota this past weekend should give cause for concern. While things are currently dicing for the Bears nothing is impossible, since 2016 Five team had 3 game losing streaks and made it to post season that was Lamar University in 2018 and Illinois State in 2016 which both having a 4 game losing streak and making to the playoffs and more recently Missouri State made it to the post season after starting 0-3 during the spring season which the team wind up winning the Missouri Valley Conference. So, while the Bears backs are against the wall at the moment they’re not out of the playoff hunt, but they need to start winning games and this Saturday against Southern Illinois feels almost like a must win.
